10 AMAZING TIME TRAVEL THEORIES

We all have regrets, and most of us have wondered at some point if there was a way to go back in time to change the past or even just to be able to actually experience the past. While many people believe that time travel is impossible, thanks to some incredible physicists, these 10 amazing time travel theories indicate that time travel may actually be possible.

1. TIPLER CYLINDER


Also known as the infinite cylinder, this theory was first introduced by the astronomer Frank Tipler. He claims that within the space-time realm, there is a rotating cylinder that has infinite length and has a mass that’s 10 times that of the sun. He theorizes that if a spaceship entered the Tipler Cylinder, it would be able to travel through time.

2. WORMHOLES



Easily one of the most well-known time travel theories, it was made even more popular with the recent release of the film Interstellar. Wormholes are essentially shortcuts in the universe, in both space and time. Unlike the Tipler cylinder which is infinite, a wormhole has a definite beginning and end. They are said to be portals to both the past and the future. However, they are tiny so that only small particles can pass through them.

3. REACHING THE SPEED OF LIGHT


There is a theory that was developed that says that if you are able to reach the speed of light, then time will slow down and you’ll be able to go into the future. This is because you have moved beyond the speed at which things are occurring.

4. GOING BEYOND THE SPEED OF LIGHT



This theory works alongside Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. It states that if you were able to move faster than the speed of light, you would be able to move back in time. Unfortunately, Einstein believes that such a journal would require more energy than what actually exists.

5. COSMIC STRINGS


This theory is popular among some cosmologists who believe that when the big bang occurred, it created a number of cracks throughout the universe. These cracks have been labeled Cosmic Strings, and they each have a massive mass. The theory states that if two of these cosmic strings were to collide, their combined mass could actually create a loop in time-space.

6. PARALLEL UNIVERSES


This theory states that there are more than one universe that all coexist. This theory is also known as the multi-verse theory which further claims that there are an infinite set of possibilities that create an infinite number of universes. If one was able to access these other universes, one would then be able to travel through time.

7. DOUGHNUT VACUUM



A doughnut vacuum is a huge doughnut-shaped vacuum that would be able to manipulate gravitation fields. If this doughnut could be created along with the vacuum inside, then the space found between the loop would gain the ability to send people backwards in time.

8. BLACK HOLES



This is another one of the more well-known theories out there, but there is also a lot of controversy surrounding them. This is because nobody is quite sure what would happen if someone were to travel through a black hole. However, because of their enormous gravitational pull, some scientists believe that they are able to slow down time as you get closer to them. This has led scientists to further speculate that black holes are natural time machines that would also make time travel possible.

9. QUANTUM TUNNELING

This theory involves us being able to move like electrons. It suggests that if we are able to achieve the same types of movements as electrons, we could achieve time travel by reaching a speed greater than light. As mentioned before, reaching speeds greater than light should allow us to travel backwards in time.


10. THE GOD PARTICLE



The God particle is officially called the Higgs Boson. It is an elementary particle that has contributed much in regards to the existence of mass. It also proves that it is possible to travel at the speed of light. Scientists believe that if we were to discover a way to turn off God Particle, objects would become “un-massed” which would then make time travel possible.
